Matthew 6:19-21

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

God does not want a monetary rich people. He wants us to use our money for the help of those who need it. It is important that deposit our treasure into our heavenly bank account. We do this by following the words of God and by letting his love shine through us.

Matthew 6:14-16

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

To truly believe and follow the teachings of Christ we have to forgive others of things that they do to us. Love is what allows us to do this. If we don’t have the love of Christ in us it is difficult to forgive others. On the same token, the true act of forgiveness is a great way to show the love of Christ.

Jacob 3:2

O all ye that are pure in heart, lift up your heads and receive the pleasing word of God, and feast upon his love; for ye may, if your minds are firm, forever.

God will never leave us. Let us be reassured that he will love us forever. He will pour out his blessing to us if we only just love him in return.

1 John 4:7-8

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Love is the basics of the teachings of Christ. The people who talk about love but don’t show it are not of Christ. All true believers love others.

Alma 34:17

Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye might begin to exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you; Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is mighty to save. Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him. Cry unto him when ye are in your fields, yea, over all your flocks. Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening. Yea, cry unto him against the power of your enemies. Yea, cry unto him against the devil, which is an enemy to all righteousness. Cry unto him over the crops of your fields, that ye may prosper in them. Cry over the flocks of your fields, that they may increase. But this is not all; ye must pour out your souls in your closets, and your secret places, and in your wilderness. Yea, and when you do not cry unto the Lord, let your hearts be full, drawn out in prayer unto him continually for your welfare, and also for the welfare of those which are around you. And now behold, my beloved brethren, I say unto you, do not suppose that this is all; for after ye have done all these things, if ye turn away the needy, and the naked, and visit not the sick and afflicted, and impart of your substance, if ye have, to those which stand in need—I say unto you, if ye do not any of these things, behold, your prayer is vain, and availeth you nothing, and ye are as hypocrites which do deny the faith.

We need to remember to pray to the Lord always. He will give us the strength we need to live our lives. He will give us the comfort we need when we need comforting. He will bless us and most of all he will love us. In return we must love him and do his work on earth. The means we must love others.

Matthew 22:36-40

Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

As it has been said before and will be said many times again, love is what matters. We are supposed to love our Lord and each other no matter what. We cannot let things of this world cloud our judgment on this issue.  God loves everyone, and so should we.

Romans 12:19

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

With the news that has come out in the last 36 hours about the death of Osama bin Laden it is important to remember that the Lord is the one that will serve justice. We should not celebrate the death as a victory, but as a loss. That is just one more person who never found God. Let us pray for everyone, even the ones that don’t like us for our race, our country, or our beliefs that God will touch them and show them his love.

Philippians 2:2-3

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Love is the building block that makes God plan possible. Without love it cannot work. We should also apply this to our daily lives as well. If we do all things in love, just think how much ours, and the people around us, lives will be better.

John 8:34

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Don’t be a servant of sin, be a servant of God full of love.

Galatians 5:13-14

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Love is the most important thing in the world today. Without love we cannot be a follower of Christ. We are supposed to love everyone, just not the people that agree with us. Even our worst enemy is still a child of God. We might not agree with them, and they might not love us, but we must love all of mankind and treat them that way.

Message 57:12

The Lord will comfort all that come unto him, therefore be not troubled but lift up and rejoice, even all. Fail not lest the Lord turn to others; be overcomers in all things for Satan seeks to set thee at variance one with another. Let it not be so.

The Lord will be there for us. We are supposed to love each other and treat each other with respect. Satan tries to work into our lives bitter contention that will tear us apart and away from God. Don’t let this happen to you. Let us praise the Lord and the peace that he brings.

1 Corinthians 13:3

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Without love, we are nothing. Let us have love in all things we do in our lives. It is not enough to do kind things, but we must do them with love.

Colossians 3:13-17

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

In everything that we do, we are supposed to have Christ be a part of it. This includes our daily lives and actions. We need to give God the glory with good things happen and ask for help when times are tuff. If we do this, then the world cannot deny that we are Christ’s.

2nd Nephi 26: 30-31

Behold, the Lord hath forbidden this thing; wherefore, the Lord God hath given a commandment that all men should have charity, which charity is love. And except they should have charity they were nothing. Wherefore, if they should have charity they would not suffer the laborer in Zion to perish. But the laborer in Zion shall labor for Zion; for if they labor for money they shall perish.

Love is the key to our work for the lord. If we try to serve God for the wrong reasons, it will be for naught. We have to serve God with love and not self interest.

Message 72:5

“The Lord has sent me with salvation and life in the words I bring from him to those that hear and obey. Fear not, the reward is at the end. The gospel of Christ will bring you to life, and away from the valley of the shadow of death, for he is the Good Shepherd.  His pure unbounded love shall rule when there is unity among the faithful. The greater your love the greater your joy shall be.”

When Christ returns, the love of God will be so great that we cannot image the joy we will have. If we live our lives full of love as Christ as taught us, we will be able experience this great love. I hope that I see you there.

1 John 4:10-21

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Just believing in Christ is not enough to get to heaven. You have to follow his commandments.  His commandments can be broken down in two simple statements. Love God with all your might, and loves your brother as yourself. Both commandments go together. You cannot do one without the other. It also does not matter what you say you believe too. God requires actions, not talking. We need to show people that the love of Christ is in us. We do that by loving other people. This includes every person on earth. God loves all people, so we need to strive to do the same thing. No matter how much we disagree with certain people, we have to still love and pray for each one.

Mosiah 26:30-32

“Yea, and as often as my people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me. And ye shall also forgive one another your trespasses; for verily I say unto you, he that forgiveth not his neighbor’s trespasses when he saith that he repenteth, the same hath brought himself under condemnation. Now I say unto you, Go; and whosoever will not repent of his sins the same shall not be numbered among my people; and this shall be observed from this time forward.”

It is very reassuring to know that God loves us no matter what. No matter what we do or how many times we do it, if we honestly repent and try to change our ways God will forgive us over and over.  However if we don’t repent honestly we will not be allowed into the Kingdom of God. Part of repentance toward God is to forgive the people in our lives.  This includes the people that we know and the people that we don’t.  We need to forgive everyone in our lives and let God judge their actions.

God is truly amazing. He promises that he will never forsake us. Even when life is hard and challenges come upon us God never leaves us.He loves us no matter what. Sometimes what we think is hard and not of God, God uses to bless us in ways we never could thought of. Sick to him for he will sick to us.

We have love God and each other.  If we love him, we will follow his will and love others.  Sometimes it is very hard to love other people, but that is what God tells us to do.  There is more hate in this world right now then ever before, but Love is the way of God. Love can bring people together and keep blessing coming. Let us love everyone, no matter what.

From Bro. Norm

“And thou shall command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure olive oil beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.” Exodus 27:20

Olive oil is representative of the Holy Spirit and God commanded that the congregation of Israel have it burning always. All of us are the children of Israel and that commandment applies to you and I. We are to have the Spirit of God always alive in us and always “burning”, or active. It is the life giving force of our Lord Jesus Christ to lead us into all truths and give us His Will in our lives.
