Matthew 6:24-34

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Our salvation is the most important thing that we can look for on this earth. Let us not worry about earthly thing and focus on our salvation. If this is our main focus, then the rest will fall into place.

Here are the files from today. Enjoy

Message 35-37
There will be those that cannot endure sound doctrine—they lift their hands against this work. They set their face as steel to not let the words I bring to have their way with the people. But keep ye this way sacred and the Lord will give you faithful ones to help in this work. Some you have trusted will walk no more with you, but many more will come. Some will return to this work and faithful ones will awaken to this call and bring forth much fruit.

We cannot change the word of God to suit man. There will be and have been lots of people who have left the church because the church would not change for their ideas. Hopefully these people will come back to God, but most will not. There will however be many more to take their place. Let us keep the standard high and follow the true words of God.

3rd Nephi 23 -24

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If, therefore, the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Let us keep an eye on what is important, Christ and his truth. We cannot both be serving the ways of the Lord and the ways of man. We need to choose. Jealousy, envy, and greed are all ways of man that will take you away from Christ. Let us not worry about becoming great in the eyes of man, but let strive to become pleasing in the eyes of God.

1 John 3:7-8

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

As we go through our lives, let us be around people that follow God. There are lots of people who say they follow God, who can quote scriptures, but how are full of sin. Let us only be around people who are full of righteous. Christ came to earth to save us from sin, let us not put ourselves in situations to be around it more then we have to.

Matthew 6:14-15

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

It is important for us to forgive the people in our lives that wrong us. It can be very hard to do this at times, but it is important. The act of forgiveness also helps us heal. We cannot fully heal from our past without forgiveness. If we expect Christ to forgive us of our shortcomings, we should do the same thing to others.

Message 67:3

The time is short—the conflict in battle of the adversary has destroyed many but God will deliver and righteousness shall prevail—but let the evil be destroyed root and branch.

God promises us that he will destroy the evil, root and all. Things are going to be very difficult and some of us are going to have to suffer, but God will win in the end. The time is getting closer and closer to the end, let us all stay the course.

2nd Nephi 6:11

Wherefore, after they are driven to and fro, for thus saith the angel, many shall be afflicted in the flesh and shall not be suffered to perish, because of the prayers of the faithful; wherefore, they shall be scattered, and smitten, and hated; nevertheless, the Lord will be merciful unto them, that when they shall come to the knowledge of their Redeemer, they shall be gathered together again to the lands of their inheritance.

Although the Lord was talking to the Nephites in this verse, we can still look at it today and get reassurance. Because our forefathers were humble and obeyed God, we know that the Lord will reunite Israel. It also means that if we do the same thing today, we will also receive the Lord’s blessings and enjoy eternity with our Redeemer.

Matthew 6:6

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

If we pray to God in sincerely he will answer our prayers. Sometimes the answer looks different then what we image, but he will answer them. I can attest that this is true. God has answered many of my prayers both small and large in my life. I might have wanted a different answer or a different time line, but it always ends up working out better than I could have imagined it. Let us thank him always being there.

Galatians 5:13-14

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Love is the most important thing in the world today. Without love we cannot be a follower of Christ. We are supposed to love everyone, just not the people that agree with us. Even our worst enemy is still a child of God. We might not agree with them, and they might not love us, but we must love all of mankind and treat them that way.

Message 57:12

The Lord will comfort all that come unto him, therefore be not troubled but lift up and rejoice, even all. Fail not lest the Lord turn to others; be overcomers in all things for Satan seeks to set thee at variance one with another. Let it not be so.

The Lord will be there for us. We are supposed to love each other and treat each other with respect. Satan tries to work into our lives bitter contention that will tear us apart and away from God. Don’t let this happen to you. Let us praise the Lord and the peace that he brings.

Here are today’s sermon files. I hope that you enjoy them.

1st Nephi 15:24

And I said unto them that it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.

If we follow God’s word, we can rest assured that we will spend eternity with him. There will be several trials and tribulations that will enter our lives, but by the word of God we will be able to make it though them. God is here to help us not forsake us.

John 4:23-24

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

God wants us to follow Christ’s teachings. To fully receive the spirit of the Lord, we need to have the full truth and not just part of it. We can’t worship him, if we don’t do it according to his directions, at that point we are worshiping other things.

Helaman 3:29

Yea, we see that whosoever will lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked

Only by the word of God can we hope to make it though this life. The truth will never leave us or hurt us. As the quote says, “the truth will set you free.” This truth, God’s truth, will do more then set you free, but it will deliver you everlasting life if you follow it to the end.

Deuteronomy 4:27-31

And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you. And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

The Lord promises us that he will never forsake us. They are going to be times when there are not going to be many people following God’s will, but for the ones that he does, he will not leave. Though all the tribulation and things that will come into our lives, we can be reassured that God will always be there with his mercy for us.
