Message 66: 11

The Lord in all ages has chosen man to do his bidding. Some humble themselves and have been and are true, others listen and have listened to the whisperings of Satan and where are they? Man may choose whom he will serve. Some have become evil and are as wolves in sheep’s clothing. Fear them not and have no part with them. Therefore, except they repent let them have no part in this work. Some will yet repent, others will go to destruction.

When we are working for the Lord we need to ask ourselves are we doing his work or are we doing what we want to be done. It only takes one wrong step to fall of the straight and narrow path. To make sure that does not happen it takes lots studding and prayer.  We also can’t be influenced by the ones that walk away. Some will come back, but some will not.

Hebrews 6:1-3

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.

This is the gospel of Christ. There are not other options and alternates. If someone tells you that you need to do more than this than they are adding to Christ and are not speaking the truth. Will you do what is written or what man has created?

Malachi 3:1-4

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

Malachi 4:5-6

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

I was talking to someone today about the message they were telling me that John was not the messenger and that the messenger already came. I read them these verses and one in Matthew but they still said that it was not going to happen. The verses very clearly say what the messenger will do when he comes and what time he will come. He will come before the great and dreadful day (judgment day) and he will restore the sons of Levi (priesthood). This is happing today. God is sending his messenger and he is doing the things that the Lord promised he would do. Will you listen to the warning?

Alma 51:1-4:

And now it came to pass in the commencement of the twenty and fifth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi, they having established peace between the people of Lehi and the people of Morianton concerning their lands, and having commenced the twenty and fifth year in peace; Nevertheless, they did not long maintain an entire peace in the land, for there began to be a contention among the people concerning the chief judge Pahoran; for behold, there were a part of the people which desired that a few particular points of the law should be altered. But behold, Pahoran would not alter nor suffer the law to be altered; therefore, he did not hearken to those who had sent in their voices with their petitions concerning the altering of the law. Therefore, those which were desirous that the law should be altered were angry with him, and desired that he should no longer be chief judge over the land;

This is a good example of what we should not do. Just because we don’t like something in the law of God we can’t change it. This is what happened to the church on earth. One person wanted to change something here and someone else wanted to change something there and before you know it we have thousands of churches who believe stuff that is not even close to what Christ taught. People today go to a church where they teach what the person already believes, not what it should be where the go to church to learn what Christ taught.  Remember Christ is the one who wrote the gospel, not a man. How can we change it?

Romans 12:19

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

With the news that has come out in the last 36 hours about the death of Osama bin Laden it is important to remember that the Lord is the one that will serve justice. We should not celebrate the death as a victory, but as a loss. That is just one more person who never found God. Let us pray for everyone, even the ones that don’t like us for our race, our country, or our beliefs that God will touch them and show them his love.

Message 64:7

Lift up your strength in the Lord. In times past you have been delivered from the pitfalls of Satan. The plan of the evil one to destroy shall be frustrated. Heed wisdom. Those the Lord has sent you for encouragement to stand by this work shall be blessed, for in peace they shall find rest. Many blessings shall come to the humble.

In our hard time and in our good we need to remember the give thanks to God. There are times in our lives that we might feel that God has forsaken us or left us alone, but this is not true. God is always there, we just might not like what he is saying. God does not promise to make us rich or give us all of our dreams, but he will always give us what we need and the strength to make it through. He does this by his spirit, his word, and the servants. Don’t be afraid to seek the help of others, in your problems. God has a huge army of workers that he can use any way that he wants.
