September 16, 2012 Message 113
September 16, 2012 Phil Meihls
Matthew 22:15-22
Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s. When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
With everything that is going on in world today, let us not worry about earthy things. Let us not mix up our faith with our worldly thoughts and actions. We need to follow the rules of the land, but not by compromising our faith. At the same time we can force our faith on others. The best gift that God gave us was freedom of choice. We need to try to teach everyone God’s will, but let them decide their actions. With the tribulations that are occurring and that are going occurred the near future, let us be mindful that the ways of the Lord and keep his commandments. Let us not worry about the earthly politics and focus on salvation.
Message96:4
The Lord has used many in every clime and nation to bring about this great work, preparing the way that all Christendom shall flow together.
There have many people that do not know of this work do great things for the Lord. He will reward these people and they will be blessed. We should be glade that there are people doing the Lords work and when they hear of this message there will only be one Church of Christ.
Matthew 22:36-40
Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
We have love God and each other. If we love him, we will follow his will and love others. Sometimes it is very hard to love other people, but that is what God tells us to do. There is more hate in this world right now then ever before, but Love is the way of God. Love can bring people together and keep blessing coming. Let us love everyone, no matter what.
Matthew 7:21-23
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
It is not enough to just say that you follow Christ and then half way do it. You must follow his commandments and follow his gospel. We have to follow Christ’s plan of salvation, not make up our own. There will be many people who do not make it into heaven that thought they were doing the right things. It is is important that we study and read Christ’s words to find the correct way.
Luke 6:27-29
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.
Love is the key to Christ’s teachings. We all are good at loving the people we like, but how are we about loving the people that we don’t like. Christ taught us to love everyone and help them. Everyone is a child of God and we must treat each accordingly.
Message 22:8
Some will say, ‘How shall I know that this is of God?’ Have you not read the prophets of old? Did Jesus not tell you of these times that you see? For the Lord has spoken and sent me with the message as in the days of Noah. Will you heed his words? Or will you reject it as in the days of old?
No one who hears about this message will be able to deny it on judgment day. This is the way of the truth that was promised to us from our God above to help us stay true to him. If we deny it we only hurt ourselves, both today and in the end. Will you listen and follow the truth?
1st Timothy 4:12:14
“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
It is important that we keep our promise to God. To love him and to serve him. By doing that we have to obey his commandments. We have to follow his commandments until Jesus comes back. That includes keeping the true gospel of Christ correct and unaltered. It is God’s church, not ours, we can’t change the rules for our gain.
James 5:13-16
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Prayer is a great comforter and healer. If when we are ill, we would pray to our Lord, we will heal faster. Prayer is as like an extra dose of medicine that goes straight to our soul. Not on does it comfort us, but it allows us to become closer to God. This allows God to work on our bodies.
Matthew 17:14-21
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Faith is an important part of following God. We must have faith to have Christ work through us and for us to follow him. We can acquire faith by prayer and fasting. The more we pray, the stronger our faith will become.
Matthew 6:5-8
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Let us be mindful of who we are praying to and the reason we pray. If we pray for our glory in the eyes of man we will not answers, just sadness in the eyes of our father. We must remember to keep ourselves humble in our prayers.
Romans 8:31-32
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
When things get tough, we can take assurance that God is on our side. Nothing in life is to hard for God. When things are tough on for us, remember God is there to help us. Any thing is possible with the help of God.
Mormon 7:1-10
And now, behold, I would speak somewhat unto the remnant of this people which are spared, if it so be that God may give unto them my words, that they may know of the things of their fathers; yea, I speak unto you, ye remnant of the house of Israel; and this is the words which I speak: Know ye that ye are of the house of Israel. Know ye that ye must come unto repentance, or ye cannot be saved. Know ye that ye must lay down your weapons of war, and delight no more in the shedding of blood, and take them not again, save it be that God shall command you. Know ye that ye must come to the knowledge of your fathers, and repent of all of your sins and iniquities, and believe in Jesus Christ, that he is the Son of God, and that he was slain by the Jews, and by the power of the Father he hath risen again, whereby he hath gained the victory over the grave; and also in him is the sting of death swallowed up. And he bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead, whereby man must be raised to stand before his judgment seat. And he hath brought to pass the redemption of the world, whereby he that is found guiltless before him at the judgment day hath it given unto them to dwell in the presence of God in his kingdom, to sing ceaseless praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which is one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end. Therefore repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus, and lay hold upon the gospel of Christ, which shall be set before you, not only in this record but also in the record which shall come unto the Gentiles from the Jews, which record shall come from the Gentiles unto you. For behold, this is written for the intent that ye may believe that; and if ye believe that ye will believe this also; and if ye believe this ye will know concerning your fathers, and also the marvelous works which were wrought by the power of God among them. And ye will also know that ye are a remnant of the seed of Jacob; therefore ye are numbered among the people of the first covenant; and if it so be that ye believe in Christ, and are baptized, first with water, then with fire and with the Holy Ghost, following the example of our Savior, according to that which he hath commanded us, it shall be well with you in the day of judgment. Amen.
No matter if we are decedents of the house of Israel or not, we must all call upon Christ to forgive our sins. Only through his salvation can we spend eternity in heaven. God sent us Christ for our salvation, not his own. We own him the praise and actions required to receive it.
Here the files from the last two weeks. I hope that you enjoy them.
September 02, 2012 Message 112 Pt1
September 02, 2012 Phil Meihls
Psalms 5:1-12
To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
Let us pray to the Lord for the blessings that we know will come. Let us not be a part of the evil that cannot live in the presence of God. Let God take care of our problems and enemies and let us focus on praising him.
Message 66:11
The Lord in all ages has chosen man to do his bidding. Some humble themselves and have been and are true, others listen and have listened to the whisperings of Satan and where are they? Man may choose whom he will serve. Some have become evil and are as wolves in sheep’s clothing. Fear them not and have no part with them. Therefore, except they repent let them have no part in this work. Some will yet repent, others will go to destruction.
In order to fulfill God’s wishes for each of us we must remember to be humble. When we stop being humble that is the first step of falling away from the Lord and closer to Satan. We must not become evil and take the sheep away from our Lord. We must strive to keep Gods commandments and keep our eye on the prize.
Message 6:11
Be humble in your work. Be longsuffering with others; and if you will do this God will give you his Spirit from time to time to enlighten your mind, that the work you do might be accepted of him. Amen.”
Staying humble is one of the hardest things to do, but it is one of the most important. We cannot allow ourselves to think we are more than we are. Only through God can we obtain our true potential but in life and on our spiritual walk. Stay grounded and you will continue to grow.
Mosiah 4:9-12
Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he hath all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now,
if you believe all these things see that ye do them. And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness, and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceeding great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and longsuffering towards you unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel. And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.
If we humble ourselves before God we will receive his blessings. We have to do this to truly have our sins forgiven. Being humble is not something that we say we are, it is something that we do.
