Message 43:12

Read the words I send unto you by my messenger. Study them and obey my will fully, and eternity shall have place for you.

We have to follow all of God’s words, not just the ones that we want to. We cannot pick and chose the ones that we want. If you want to know if what you believe is of God just research it in the scriptures and ask God for his sprit to lead you.  It takes both to find the truth.

Alma 38:1-2

My son, give ear to my words, for I say unto you, even as I said unto Helaman, that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall prosper in the land; and inasmuch as ye will not keep the commandments of God ye shall be cast off from his presence. And now, my son, I trust that I shall have great joy in you, because of your steadiness and your faithfulness unto God; for as you have commenced in your youth to look to the Lord your God, even so I hope that you will continue in keeping his commandments; for blessed is he that endureth to the end.

If we follow the commandments of God we will recive his blessings. This does not mean that we will be rich or have lots of possessions, but it means that we will be prosperous. If we fall away from God, we will lose our prosperity and life will become harder to go though.

Matthew 22:36-40

Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

We have love God and each other.  If we love him, we will follow his will and love others.  Sometimes it is very hard to love other people, but that is what God tells us to do.  There is more hate in this world right now then ever before, but Love is the way of God. Love can bring people together and keep blessing coming. Let us love everyone, no matter what.

Message 66:11

The Lord in all ages has chosen man to do his bidding. Some humble themselves and have been and are true, others listen and have listened to the whisperings of Satan and where are they? Man may choose whom he will serve. Some have become evil and are as wolves in sheep’s clothing. Fear them not and have no part with them. Therefore, except they repent let them have no part in this work. Some will yet repent, others will go to destruction.

In order to fulfill God’s wishes for each of us we must remember to be humble. When we stop being humble that is the first step of falling away from the Lord and closer to Satan. We must not become evil and take the sheep away from our Lord. We must strive to keep Gods commandments and keep our eye on the prize.

Mosiah2:22

And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he hath promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you.

All we have to do to receive Christ’s blessings is to follow his commandments. This sounds very simple and can be if you let the love of Christ into your heart. If don’t let Christ in, it become very difficult to not follow the ways of the world and follow God’s commandments.

Exodus 20:17

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

We should not be jealous of others. If we spend our time trying to keep up with others and their positions we are not serving God like he wants us too. We should not worry about other, if we just serve the Lord everything we need we will receive.

Exodus 20:16

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

We should not speak lies about other people. This includes gossiping and talking behind someones back.

Exodus 20:15

Thou shalt not steal.

We should not take from others. This includes large things that we think about, but also includes small things. Stealing is stealing, no matter the size.

Exodus 20:14

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

We should not take go against our promise to our spouse. As Christ thought this even includes the thought of adultery. We need to keep both clean hearts and clean hands.

Exodus 20:13

Thou shalt not kill.

Plain and simple. Killing is not what the Lords wants us to do. Taking a life not the will of the Lord.

Exodus 20:12

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

We should respect and listen to our parents. This is like the relationship that we have with God. If we listen and follow his guidance we will have a blessed and fruitful life.

Exodus 20:8-11

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

We should take a day off from each week and use it to celebrate our salvation and worship our Lord. Sunday’s are day of rest to think about what Christ has done for us and to give him thanks.

Exodus 20:7

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

This one is pretty simple, just don’t do it. God does not like it and it does not make you sound intelligent.

Exodus 20:5-6

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

As with the previous two commandments we see that God wants us to keep him and only him on our minds. We should not pray or worship things or ideas that could be considered a God or an image of a God.

Exodus 20:4

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Along with not worshiping other Gods, God does not want us worshiping idles.

Exodus 20:2-3

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

God wants use to put him first in our lives. This means that we should not focus on the ways of the world or collecting possessions, but worshiping God the way Christ taught us.

Mark 12:12

And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

Just like the days of old, there will be a time that people fear the workers of Christ. Now people persecute the ones who are working for Christ. Those people who are persecuting Christ’s workers will get their reward, and it will not be pleasant. Let us be comforted in the fact that Christ will always be with us and will get the last word.

Alma 36:1

My son, give ear to my words; for I swear unto you, that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall prosper in the land.

If we are obedient to the Lord we will be blessed. This does not mean that we will be rich, but we will always have what we need. God loves a people who follow his commandments and when this happens he rewards them with prosperity. If we want to get a head, we first need to follow Christ.
