Luke 1:31-33

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

As we start to get closer and closer the Christmas day let us start remembering the true reason that we celebrate Christmas. It is not for the gifts or the toys, but to celebrate the birth of our King. This King does not rule over an earthly kingdom, but a heavenly one. This king is not cruel to his people but always loving. Most importantly this king will rule forever with love and peace.

Hebrews 6:1-3

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.

This is the gospel of Christ. Faith, repentance, baptism, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal life. In order to come into the kingdom of heaven, you must follow this pattern. There are no shortcuts. If you want to be listed as a follower of Christ, you must repent and be baptized into his church by the ones having the authority to do so. 3rd Nephi 13:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

The most important thing that we need to work on in the life is striving to get to heaven.  We do this by following the gospel of Christ. If we do this we will have all that we need in our lives. This is very reassuring.
