James 5:13-16

Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Prayer is a great comforter and healer. If when we are ill, we would pray to our Lord, we will heal faster. Prayer is as like an extra dose of medicine that goes straight to our soul. Not on does it comfort us, but it allows us to become closer to God. This allows God to work on our bodies.

Matthew 17:14-21

And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Faith is an important part of following God. We must have faith to have Christ work through us and for us to follow him. We can acquire faith by prayer and fasting. The more we pray, the stronger our faith will become.

Psalms 5:1-12

To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Let us pray to the Lord for the blessings that we know will come. Let us not be a part of the evil that cannot live in the presence of God. Let God take care of our problems and enemies and let us focus on praising him.

Message 102:11

Knowledge cometh from study of the Books and grace from much prayer, salvation by obedience, deliverance by endurance.

Only studding, prayer, obedience and deliverance can give us the tools we need to make it through this life and into the next with Christ. We must work to sharpen our skills find a way to serve Christ better. These tools are the key to the process.

Message 68:5

The Lord is mindful of his people and has heard the prayers from the heart. I am commanded that answer shall come. Therefore, I came to speak life and the will of the Lord. I am the Elias. I am set to refine and make ready a people before the Lord. This is my mission. Deliverance shall come to many.

This is true today as well. I know that the messenger has not come for many years, but that does not mean that God is not listing to our prayers. It is just not time for us to get our answer yet. It will come because God said it would.

Matthew 6:7-8

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

I know it is hard to believe, but God does know what we need and he gives it to us when we need it. Sometimes it is not what or when we would like, but it is always the right thing.

3rd Nephi 1-3

Behold, now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words he looked round about again on the multitude, and he saith unto them: Behold, my time is at hand. I perceive that ye are weak, that ye cannot understand all my words which I am commanded of the Father to speak unto you at this time. Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again.

When there are things that we do not understand we should pray and fast and God will give us understanding. It might take a little while, but it will come with trough humble prayer.  When you first hear about this work sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. Through prayer understanding will come though.

Psalms 64:1-10

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them? They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep. But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded. So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away. And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing. The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

Let us put our trust in the Lord. He will guild and protect us when we need it. He is only a short pray away.

Alma 34:17

Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye might begin to exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you; Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is mighty to save. Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him. Cry unto him when ye are in your fields, yea, over all your flocks. Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening. Yea, cry unto him against the power of your enemies. Yea, cry unto him against the devil, which is an enemy to all righteousness. Cry unto him over the crops of your fields, that ye may prosper in them. Cry over the flocks of your fields, that they may increase. But this is not all; ye must pour out your souls in your closets, and your secret places, and in your wilderness. Yea, and when you do not cry unto the Lord, let your hearts be full, drawn out in prayer unto him continually for your welfare, and also for the welfare of those which are around you. And now behold, my beloved brethren, I say unto you, do not suppose that this is all; for after ye have done all these things, if ye turn away the needy, and the naked, and visit not the sick and afflicted, and impart of your substance, if ye have, to those which stand in need—I say unto you, if ye do not any of these things, behold, your prayer is vain, and availeth you nothing, and ye are as hypocrites which do deny the faith.

We need to remember to pray to the Lord always. He will give us the strength we need to live our lives. He will give us the comfort we need when we need comforting. He will bless us and most of all he will love us. In return we must love him and do his work on earth. The means we must love others.

Just a few quick thoughts today. It is amazing how the Lord works in our lives. We pray and pray for something that we need in our lives. Opportunity after opportunity to give us what we want fails to materializes we can start to get frustrated and disenchanted with God. But we have to stay patient and humble before God, because his plan is the right one. If we keep praying and trusting in him, what we need will always come when we need it.  And when he does answer our prayers, it will be better that what we would have planed. God works in powerful ways, lets give him the chance to do it.

Matthew 6:6

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

If we pray to God in sincerely he will answer our prayers. Sometimes the answer looks different then what we image, but he will answer them. I can attest that this is true. God has answered many of my prayers both small and large in my life. I might have wanted a different answer or a different time line, but it always ends up working out better than I could have imagined it. Let us thank him always being there.

Message 46:11

This is the Lord’s work and man cannot do it his way.

Let us strive to do his will. I hope and pray that each one of us prays to God and tries to do our best to follow his will. We can do this by studding and spending time in prayer. The closer we are to God, the less likely it is that we will fall away.

Matthew 6:9-13

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Let us remember to pray often and to give praises to the Lord
