1st Timothy 4:12:14

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”

It is important that we keep our promise to God. To love him and to serve him.  By doing that we have to obey his commandments. We have to follow his commandments until Jesus comes back.  That includes keeping the true gospel of Christ correct and unaltered.  It is God’s church, not ours, we can’t change the rules for our gain.

Mormon 7:1-10

And now, behold, I would speak somewhat unto the remnant of this people which are spared, if it so be that God may give unto them my words, that they may know of the things of their fathers; yea, I speak unto you, ye remnant of the house of Israel; and this is the words which I speak: Know ye that ye are of the house of Israel. Know ye that ye must come unto repentance, or ye cannot be saved. Know ye that ye must lay down your weapons of war, and delight no more in the shedding of blood, and take them not again, save it be that God shall command you. Know ye that ye must come to the knowledge of your fathers, and repent of all of your sins and iniquities, and believe in Jesus Christ, that he is the Son of God, and that he was slain by the Jews, and by the power of the Father he hath risen again, whereby he hath gained the victory over the grave; and also in him is the sting of death swallowed up. And he bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead, whereby man must be raised to stand before his judgment seat. And he hath brought to pass the redemption of the world, whereby he that is found guiltless before him at the judgment day hath it given unto them to dwell in the presence of God in his kingdom, to sing ceaseless praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which is one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end. Therefore repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus, and lay hold upon the gospel of Christ, which shall be set before you, not only in this record but also in the record which shall come unto the Gentiles from the Jews, which record shall come from the Gentiles unto you. For behold, this is written for the intent that ye may believe that; and if ye believe that ye will believe this also; and if ye believe this ye will know concerning your fathers, and also the marvelous works which were wrought by the power of God among them. And ye will also know that ye are a remnant of the seed of Jacob; therefore ye are numbered among the people of the first covenant; and if it so be that ye believe in Christ, and are baptized, first with water, then with fire and with the Holy Ghost, following the example of our Savior, according to that which he hath commanded us, it shall be well with you in the day of judgment. Amen.

No matter if we are decedents of the house of Israel or not, we must all call upon Christ to forgive our sins. Only through his salvation can we spend eternity in heaven. God sent us Christ for our salvation, not his own. We own him the praise and actions required to receive it.

Message 22:14-15

14  Remember: Zion shall not be moved out of her place, nor Jerusalem from her former dwelling place, for the Lord made a covenant with Israel at Horeb, and he will gather his people that are obedient, in their land. And their cities shall again be cleansed and righteousness shall again be in its borders. And the Lord shall remember them, and they shall accept Christ as their Savior, and the gospel as their law forever.

15  And this nation shall be cleansed, and then shall it be Zion, for the Lord will bless this land and the people that will keep his commandments and walk in humility before him. But the heady and highminded he will visit with destruction, and those that have robbed the widow and fatherless, and have taken that which is not their own.

Israel will receive their land that God promised them in the Middle East, but the key to the promise is that they will accept Christ as their savior.  America will also be the place where Christ will return. The people in this land will also be cleansed and follow his commandments.

Galatians 3:24-29

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

All are able to receive the salvation that Christ brought with him. To receive this promise though we must believe on Christ and follow his teachings. Just because you are a direct descendent of Abraham does not mean that you will be in heaven when Christ comes. You still need be baptized in Christ.

Galatians 3:14-19

That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

The promise that God made to Abraham was not the law or the rules that must be followed. It was that his children would be saved through faith. All people that are believers in Christ are included in that promise. We need to remember that the law was created for the man, but the promise was created for the salvation.

Galatians 3:6-9

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Anyone who believes onto Christ is considered a child of Abraham. This is important because that the true promise to Abraham was his children will receive salvation. Our faith in Christ is what connects us to Abraham. We are his children.

Genesis 26:1-5

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

God is telling Isaac about the land he promised to his father Abraham. This promise land is the region of Palestine not limited to one county on today’s map. The important thing to remember about the promise land is that the reward is not the land but that salvation. Christ will reign over the whole world when he returns.

Message 98:5

I come as the Messenger of the Lord. The Lord has been and will be with his people by his Spirit, and his peace shall long linger with the faithful until they become the jewels of God, called, chosen and faithful.

God will never leave us. If we stay faithful to the Lord he will make sure that we are with him in the end. This is a great promise that we rely on.
