2 Timothy 2:22-26

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

We need to put the ways of man behind us when we turn to the Lord. We must try to have the qualities that Christ wants us to have. These include but are not limited to gentleness, patience, righteousness, faith, charity, peace and meekness. This must be our main focus, not the ways of the world.

John 7:16-18

Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.  He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

Christ taught God’s doctrine. Today we teach the same doctrine. It is not for our benefit that we tell the world about Christ, but for the glory of God. Those that teach for their own glory will get their reward and it will not be pleasant. Now the question is do you want to glorify God or man.

1 John 3:7-8

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

As we go through our lives, let us be around people that follow God. There are lots of people who say they follow God, who can quote scriptures, but how are full of sin. Let us only be around people who are full of righteous. Christ came to earth to save us from sin, let us not put ourselves in situations to be around it more then we have to.

Message 61:6

Those that the Lord has called, let them be in the field as the way opens. Let not man have his way but heed the instructions I bring, for the Lord has sent me. I speak his words.

When people try to add their plans into the plan of God, the results are never good. First off why change God’s plan for it is already perfect. Second by adding your own thought into it we are condemning ourselves.  Let us follow the instructions of Christ that we have to though the Holy Spirit, the word of God as written the Bible and the Record of the Nephites, and the instructions that we have received from John. If we keep the these things we will remain in righteousness.

3rd Nephi 13:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

The most important thing that we need to work on in the life is striving to get to heaven.  We do this by following the gospel of Christ. If we do this we will have all that we need in our lives. This is very reassuring.
