The Gospel of Christ

When Christ came to the Earth from heaven in the form of man he fulfilled the prophecies of old.  During his
time on earth Christ taught the people how to live their lives and the steps required to receive salvation though
the Gospel of Christ. The basis of the Gospel of Christ is that he died for our sins, and through him we can
receive everlasting life.

John 3:16-17
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the
world through him might be saved.”

Before Christ's coming, the way to receive salvation was though the old law.  Since Christ came and died for us
we are no longer bound by the old law, but have a new way of salvation.

Matthew 5:17-18
"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I
say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be

Romans 10:4
"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Romans 7:4-6
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring
forth fruit unto death.  But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we
should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”

The new way of salvation is the Gospel of Christ which comes down to six simple things:  Faith, Baptism,
Laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and everlasting life.

Hebrews 6:1-2
“Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the
foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying
on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.”

The key with the Gospel of Christ is that you have to do it Gods way the way he set it up. We cannot add to or
change his gospel. There is only one gospel of Christ and only one Church of Christ on this earth.

Ephesians 4:4-7
“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one
baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  But unto every one of us is
given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”

The Foundation of the Church of Christ

When Christ was on earth he set up his church in accordance to God’s plan.  The head of the Church is Christ
Jesus himself.

Ephesians 1:22
“And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church”

Colossians 1: 12-18
“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in
light:  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear
Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the
invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are
in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were
created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the
body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the

Now that we know that Christ is the head of the Church we have to figure out how the rest of it is set up.  This
though is already done for us by Christ, for he decided how his Church was organized.  He even told what the
responsibilities of these positions are and how long they have to do their work.

Ephesians 2: 20-21
“And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner
stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord”

Ephesians 4:11-16
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  Till we all come
in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the
stature of the fullness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about
with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:  From whom
the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the
effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”

Now we know what the leaders of the church should be and what their responsibility is. That is the ministry is
in charge of teaching the true word of God to the entire world until Christ returns.

The Apostasy of the Early Church

The word of God tells us that the Lord's Church would fall away from the true doctrine of Christ,  that men would
begin to teach man-made doctrines, and that they would lead many away from the true doctrine of Christ.
Christ's Apostles understood this well and they taught it to the people.

Timothy 4:1-3
“Now the spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot
iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with
thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”

2 Peter 2:1 -3
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who
privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves
swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil
spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose
judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”

II Thessalonians 2:1-7
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto
him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us,
as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except
there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and
exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of
God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth
already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. “

This departure from the faith would necessitate a restoration and restitution of God's holy priesthood authority
and a restoration of His Church to the true doctrine of Christ before His return to earth to claim His bride, the
